David R. Peterson

Mr. Peterson concentrates his practice in civil litigation. He has tried more than 30 cases in various Chicago area court systems including Cook and Lake County Law Departments as well as the First, Second and Third Municipal Districts of Cook County. He has received numerous Not Guilty verdicts, with all but three verdicts being for less than plaintiff's demand to settle the case.

While attending law school, Mr. Peterson was a member of the National Mock Trial Team, and the Moot Court Society. He was recognized as the Best Oralist for the Northern Region of the United States in the 1996 Jessup Cup international Moot Court Competition.

Recently Mr. Peterson represented a defendant dentist at trial who was sued over the adequacy of a set of dentures. The Judge found in favor of the dentist and found that all of the treatment provided was appropriate.

Prior trial results included:

Mr. Peterson successfully received a Not Guilty verdict in a case where the plaintiff, a passenger in a Mr. Peterson's client's vehicle, suffered injuries which included a cervical fusion at C-2, knee surgery, two different week-long hospital stays with $100,000 in medical specials, lost wages in excess of $300,000, and a $1 million request from the jury.

In a case where Mr. Peterson represented a laundry service sued for injuries caused by one of their servicemen the jury agreed with Mr. Peterson's recommendation of $100,000 to a 28-year-old male, who had suffered injuries including a failed cervical fusion, rather than plaintiff's request for a verdict of $3.8 million by returning a verdict for only $120,000.
